7 Years, No Itch

We kicked off the day with a 5:30am run.  That calls for coffee!

Can you believe it was already daylight?!!  I love the early summer sunrise!

Early morning light, peonies, and coffee = perfection.

I never drink enough water, so I am loving this fruit water diffuser.  This one had cherries in it!

Track Tuesday:

It was so humid and soupy outside, but we were all smiles during the warmup!  I drank my entire bottle of Cocogo (discount code: JENCHOOSESJOY (all caps) and my post-it fell apart from sweat.

My workout:

4 mile warmup plus a few strides.

6x800m (400m recovery jog)

1 mile cool down

Post run smiles!

I saw Robin at Franklin Massage for a much needed deep tissue massage.

In honor of Taco Tuesday…

With Chipotle on the brain, we grilled out and made a chipotle-lime cauliflower…yum!!

And we’re obsessed with this baby bunny that’s living in our backyard.

Mercury is back in retrograde again until June 11.  Read all about it HERE.

Wednesday:  7th Wedding Anniversary!

I met up with Dave, Corrie, and Jen for a run through Percy Warner Park.

Elevation gain: 1350ft.  We mixed it up and ran half road and half trails.

I put on a dress and even fixed my hair…

And Jason and I went to Moto to celebrate our anniversary!  Thanks to Corrie and Sam for the bubbles!!!

I had my favorite blueberry and mushroom lasagna.  It sounds strange, but it’s perfect.

And Jason surprised me with a new Louis!!

It was a wonderful day.  Thank you to everyone for your well wishes!!!!

Married folks…how long have you been married and where was your wedding?

Rumor has it that Chipotle is testing delivery.  Are they delivering in your city?  Have you tried it?

How do you get motivated for early morning run?

Happy Anniversary!! You look so pretty. Love the new Louis. I have been married 14 years, and also got two Louies as anniversary gifts. My 40th bday is this summer and I was hinting for a small one that I can wrap the strap around my chest. He asked if I really need another one:). Friends motivate me to get out early, so much easier that way.

    • jenchoosesjoy

Congratulations on 14 years…such an inspiration!!!

  • ooartist1234

We’ve been married 17 years. We were married at my pastor’s house in Green Hills! It was a simple, small ceremony, 75 people. :)

It is not easy to get motivated for early morning, unless I am meeting someone OR if I am leading track. I have to be the motivator (or at least seem excited) for others getting up so early. -Liz

    • jenchoosesjoy

17 years is incredible!!!! I can totally relate with being the motivator!

  • Desiree

Hi I just stumbled across your blog the other day, so I’m a new reader. Congrats on 7 years. My husband and I celebrate 17 years this August. We actually honeymooned in Nashville. Long story but we were both in the Air Force at the time. I was stationed in Alaska and he was stationed in NC. We were married in PA and stopped through Nashville on our way back to NC for a quick honeymoon. We live in Atlanta now but Nashville is still one of favorite cities.

    • jenchoosesjoy

      Wow…17 years is incredible!!!

  • Sarah @SarahRuns26

Happy Anniversary! Your hair was so long in your wedding picture!! And other than shorter hair, you look exactly the same! We’ve been married just over two years now, but together for six. I would just take a Chipotle in town, even if they didn’t deliver!!

    • jenchoosesjoy

I miss the long hair sometimes, but short is so easy!

  • Brooke

It’ll be 5 years June 5th! I love running early, we live in the country so it’s really quiet and just plain nice to run when the sun comes up.

    • jenchoosesjoy

      It’s almost your anniversary…so exciting!!

  • bethrivers

  • bethrivers

Happy Anniversary!! The straight hair is super cute!!! We’re going to be celebrating our 12th anniversary next month and were married in Lebanon, TN!! So I really enjoy seeing all your park runs, it reminds me of home! And OH MY if Chipotle delivered….AMAZING!!! Coffee…that’s how I stay motivated for those morning runs. That and the thought of just getting it over. Of course when you get back you feel great and tell yourself you’re going to do it again tomorrow!

  • Marilyn

Happy Anniversary! We have been married for 10 years and tied the knot at a winery near Santa Barbara, CA.

Where was your wedding? It looks very tropical and beautiful!

Love the bag! Well done, Jason!

    • jenchoosesjoy

A winery in CA sounds like the perfect spot!! We were married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

  • Cheryl K

Happy Anniversary! I have been married for 22 (almost 23) years! I have been married, longer than I haven’t been married–it was a very big deal to me to hit that milestone!!
The only way I get up super early to run is for a race, or track workouts (meet ups).

    • jenchoosesjoy

      Wow!!! 23 years is amazing!!!

  • Running ‘N’ Reading

Congratulations on 7 years, Jen! I hope y’all had a wonderful time last night and that the bubbles are subsiding (ha!)… 😉 I love all these sweaty faces after your 800s; great job to you and your awesome group! So, you know that Jonathan & I just celebrated 7, as well; we got married here, in Little Rock, at our church. Um, yes, I have heard about this Chipotle delivery business; I think our stores are teaming up with a local delivery service (they work with a number of local restaurants) called Chef Shuttle…augh! I am an early runner like you, so it’s not a problem; now, ask me about later in the day…ugh. Not so much. Have a great day, friend!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Its too easy to procrastinate or even skip late day workouts!

      • Running ‘N’ Reading

Exactly! I never know what could happen during the day to derail my plans and that is too scary to think about – ha! 😉 You know just what I mean!

  • mary @ minutes per mile

blueberry lasagna?! that does sound kind weird. but i love lasagna in any form so i would probably eat it :) happy anniversary!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      I promise it’s really good!!

  • Jamie

It would be a beautiful day if Chipotle started delivering near me! I love running in the early mornings because no matter how the rest of my day goes, I know I will feel great because I have already accomplished something that day! : )

    • jenchoosesjoy

I completely agree! Knowing that I’ve already run that day is one of the best feelings.

  • Maddie @ Dixie Runs

Okay…. BEST ANNIVERSARY GIFT EVER! What a great hubby you have! Love the peonies and the black dress… looks super cute!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      Thanks so much!!!

The sweet 16 of my anniversary is tomorrow….lots of ups and downs and moves and changes and 3 kids….and if you make it through it all, it keeps getting better. Congrats to you guys on 7!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Happy early anniversary!!! 16 is incredible!!!

  • suzysuzyheather

Here’s a juicy comment for you… so Andrew and I exchanged rings and vows two October 25ths ago but we couldn’t get legally married yet because get this…he was still trying to get divorced to his wife after FOUR YEARS OF SUPREME COURT BATTLES. Their divorce just went through last Saturday. So, everyone thinks we’re married, but our kids and our close family and friends know we aren’t so it will be really special for us to make it legal (sometime this summer we are going back to the beach where we went on our first date to tie the knot) but guess what? We will always refer to our wedding date to be October 25th because that’s when we married each other in our hearts, minds, and souls. A piece of paper can’t take that away.

    • jenchoosesjoy

Oh my gosh…I can’t believe you guys have had to go through that!! I can’t imagine 4 years of divorce crap. I’m so happy that you’re finally able to make it official, but I would celebrate October 25th, too!!!

  • Angie@pacewithgraceblog

Congratulations to you both :-). I just love celebrating those special dates! And he sure did a good job with your present!
I will be married 4 years in October. We got married where we live here in WI at a country club. The fall colors were amazing!
Chipotle is not delivering here at this point. Would be awesome if they started!
I get motivated for the early morning runs by envisioning how great I will feel after setting my day off with a run. I also set all of my stuff out the night before so I can just get up and go!

    • jenchoosesjoy

October weddings are beautiful…crisp air and fall colors. Love it!!!

  • Katrina

Happy Anniversary! We’re 5 years total in and 3 married – congrats!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      That’s awesome…congrats!!!

  • Rachel

Happy Anniversary! We’ve been married almost 2 years now. Our wedding was in Chicago, where we are from. My favorite thing to do is look back at the wedding photos. It reminds me why I love him so much :)
I usually get motivated for a morning run by convincing myself that I’ll feel better and I won’t want to do it after work! But that only works maybe 40% of the time.

    • jenchoosesjoy

Chicago is one of our favorite cities!!!

  • Cathy M.

Happy anniversary! What a fun celebration! Hubs and I have been married 15 years — we feel like we’ve known each other forever! We got married over Thanksgiving weekend, so it’s always a special time to share together! :) Cheers!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      15 years is incredible!!!!

  • Angie Jerde

    Wow 7years…Congratulations : )
Where is your dress from? I love it!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Thanks!! Wedding dress was j crew. Anniversary dinner dress was calypso.

  • Sheena @ Paws and Pavement

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I were married last August but we have been together for 9 years this September. No itch with us either! It’s the best feeling being with the one you love. Glad you got to celebrate with some bubbly!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Thanks so much and congrats on 9 years!!!

  • cupcakesandmiles

Aw. Happy Anniversary! You guys make such a beautiful couple!

My man and I have been together since 2012; we met in 2006. We don’t have any plans to get married. We’re content where we are. :)

I would love to be an early morning runner. It just gets so so hot here, but I have to first become someone that can actually function at such an early hour of the day.

    • jenchoosesjoy

3 years is awesome…congrats to you!! I regularly feel like I don’t wake up until a few miles into my run!

  • allisonfiorini

Love your group track workout! Looks so fun!!! I also need to make that chipolte lime cauliflower asap! YUM! AND, Happy Anniversary! I am going on 10 years in November :) We got married in our hometown but took off and went backpacking in Costa Rica for our honeymoon!

    • jenchoosesjoy

10 years is incredible and backpacking in Costa Rica sounds heavenly!!

  • The Chi-Athlete

    Also, congrats 😛

    And peonies! Beautiful!

    • jenchoosesjoy

He definitely did a good job shopping!

  • thisrunnersrecipes

My husband and I will be coming up on our one-year anniversary in September! I love running in the morning because I know it will set the right tone for my whole day. Plus, post-run coffee and breakfast is an excellent motivator!

    • jenchoosesjoy

The first year is so much fun isn’t it?!! ?

  • Smitha @ Running with Sd Mom

Happy Anniversary lady! Blueberry and Mushroom? It is so weird it might just be good! My husband and I will celebrate 11 years married this year!

    • jenchoosesjoy

I promise it was delicious! Congrats on 11 years…so awesome!!!

  • Tracy

OMG if Chipotle delivers…that is deadly! My friend told me about this thing called Postmates in Chicago that will deliver from anywhere for $5. I hope Nashville gets this soon!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      That would awesome and dangerous!

  • charissarunning

Happy Anniversary!!! 7 years is a lot to celebrate :)
If Chipotle delivered, I’d be in trouble! That’s the only thing that stops me from having it some nights!

    • jenchoosesjoy

I can completely relate to that!!

  • sestevensarah

Happy Anniversary! Been married 3.5 years (4 in December!!) We married in Hawaii since I lived there at the time!

Motivation for an early monring run. ooof. I NEED some! I teach barre classes at 6:35a then work a full day meaning my early morning runs (should) happen at 4a! Much easier now that the weather is warmer, but I’m still adjusting to alarm clocks set for 3:45! Hope you enjoyed your dinner!!

    • jenchoosesjoy

I’ll bet your Hawaiian wedding was gorgeous!

  • AmandaM

Lovely choice of bags! Does Jason have a single friend or brother? :)

    • jenchoosesjoy

      He’s definitely a keeper! ?

  • Carlee

7 Years in August!! WHOOO HOOO!! Congrats to you two!! And way to rock your runs!!

    • jenchoosesjoy

      Thanks so much!!

  • Renae

Congrats on 7 years!!!! That is amazing!!! Mine will be 4 years in July!!! Your wedding photos are beautiful! Love your water infuser to get more water! I struggle with drinking enough water as well, cherry infused water!!! I am totally stealing that idea! Keep rocking!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Also, I’ve learned that fresh fruit works a lot better than frozen fruit. Enjoy!!!

  • A different Jen

19 years last month, got married in our beautiful state supreme court room.

I have been drinking fruit-infused water, too. Lemon, cucumber and mint are my favorites, although I just tried cherries last week, which was great.

I need to learn to be a morning runner.

    • jenchoosesjoy

I have fresh mint in my fridge…I’ll add it to my bottle today. Thanks for the tip!!!

    • jenchoosesjoy

Oh, and 19 years is incredible!!!!

  • Alyssa McQ

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I met in college and have been together for 8 years, married for almost 2 and doing it long-distance for 5 of those years (grad school)! We can’t wait to finally live in the same place once I finish up my PhD later this summer.

    • jenchoosesjoy

I’m so impressed that you’re making it work long distance. It will be so worth it!!!

  • lyndsay

Hi!! Just wondering where I can pick up a water bottle like that? Thank you!

    • jenchoosesjoy

I ordered mine on Amazon. It’s the Infusion h2o fruit infused water bottle. I use mine daily!

      • lyndsay

Thank you so much! Congrats on your ultra-run! So inspiring:)
