How was your running in September?

Anyone else feeling worn out from training? What are you doing to combat the fatigue?

Has it been raining all week where you live?

Yes ! Rainy and blah and COLD here in Mass. Glad I am not the only one feeling a little down about it. I am SURE the sun will visit us again one of these days????

I love my Choose Joy tee! Is that a sweatshirt you are wearing? Do you plan to sell those too? My September running was lower than I originally expected, and fatigue has most definitely set in. I’m sleeping a lot and listening to my body. Yes, it’s been raining and cold all week, but we had such a great stretch of amazing sunny weather…so I guess we were due for some rain. We put on the fireplace and made the best of it :)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

YES! I’ll be selling the sweatshirts soon. I just did a test run to make sure I like them.
We haven’t used our fireplace yet…thanks for the reminder. We need a fire this weekend!!

I am going to have to order a Choose Joy shirt because they are adorable and I keep seeing your posts and each time it makes me want one! The weather in Minneapolis has been really great lately – it’s definitely fall season here now and chillier weather but blue skies and sunshine most days. I am enjoying it while it lasts!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

Hopefully that beautiful Fall weather will come to TN!!

It’s been rainy and cool in Atlanta. We are in Tennessee for a wedding today and I’m hoping it warms up a bit for my sweet friend. September was crazy busy but I’m thankful that Chicago is next weekend! Woohoo for fall race season!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I’m sorry TN is having yucky weather for the wedding. :(
Hopefully Chicago will be perfect for all of the racers!!

This reminds me I still haven’t tallied up my September miles…. Sept in LA was unusually hot!! I’m hoping for cooler morning runs in October….and looking forward to all things pumpkin!!!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

It was a hot month in TN, too!! Bring on all things fall!!

The weather has actually been rather pleasant here this week. As I was eating my breakfast this morning prior to heading out for my long run, it started raining but stopped before I made it to the trail. Thank you Tampa! :)

      Woohoo!!!

I know you’re not a napper, but naps are the only thing that keep me going between running and yoga. My back-to-back-to-back race weekends are leaving me pretty tired, but I’ve got a few weeks until my next one haha!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

Although I didn’t nap, I did prop my feet up and rest this afternoon!!! (baby steps)

Congrats on such an awesome month running. It has been gloomy here in Memphis. It was cold, windy and hilly on my race this morning. I LOVE your blog, Instagram. You are such an inspiration. I am going to order a shirt this week. Have a great weekend!!

      CONGRATS on your awesome race!!!!!

You have a stepdad? And you put your arms around him for a picture? You have no idea how happy that makes me. This whole step parenting thing really freaks me out sometimes. I want my kids to feel loved by Andrew and I want my step kids to feel so loved by me. Anyway, I know it’s just a picture and I should really stop being so dramatic. But one more thing while I’m on a roll… can I just say how much I love the fact that you word it this way: CHOOSE joy. Because joy IS a choice. Perspective is everything. I don’t think we need to go around fake being happy, but it really helps my heart when I choose to focus on the positive things that are going right in my life rather than feeling shitty about everything else. Anyway, my novel is over. Have a great Saturday, Jen!

My step-dad and I definitely had our tough moments in my teenage years, but we are SO close now!!! He has been an incredible father figure in my life and he is absolutely my family.
When I left my job years ago, I put a Choose Joy reminder on my daily calendar. I was doing my best to be proactive and make the right choices to create the life that I wanted to live.
Sorry I typed a novel in return, lol!

      • http://www.suzyhastheruns.com Suzy Slane

Create the life you wanted to live. I love that. Thanks for such an honest reply. You’re a great human. <3

Loved sporting my Choose Joy shirt on our mini getaway and love that you donated to St. Judes!
My goal for September was to run 100 miles which I did! Working on building my base as I am not training for any long races right now.
I go to bed early (like 9:30/10PM) when I am tired. I may be “lame” as my husband likes to joke sometimes but I sure don’t regret it when my alarm goes off at 5:30 the next morning to run! :-)

You’re doing great, Jen!! Taper away, my friend; NYC is going to be awesome!!

  • https://goallthemiles.wordpress.com/ Lauren

Yes, I’m starting to feel a little worn out from training. I’m positive I could sleep for 24 hours straight right now. I’m also positive that I could eat the entire produce section from Whole Foods. I do have mixed emotions about training coming to an end – I’m sad it’s about to be over, but super excited to run the race! It’s also helpful to know we’re all in it together, it’s going to be so awesome :)
