Girls on the Run

The heart wants what the heart wants….

We took a Brentwood Breakfast Club field trip to the Red Bicycle in Germantown! (This graphic makes me happy every single time, Shannon!)

And, sorry for the terrible group photo and for any neighbors that we woke up.  Apparently the rest of the world isn’t having a party in the street at 6am!

Renewing my license has never been so easy.  Well done DMV.

I got to attend the Girls on the Run dinner again this year with these gorgeous ladies!

It was a beautifully inspiring night!!!!

They served an awesome Italian dinner….

The girls spoke so articulately about their experience with GOTR….

And my incredible friend Jenn Schott (GOTR board member, awesome runner, singer, songwriter, bada**) led a great writers round!

Friday + Coffee = FriYAY!

I logged some less-than-stellar easy-paced miles on the treadmill.  I can tell that my body is ready for NYC taper.

Speaking of taper, I like to see what’s trending with my hashtags on Instagram.  One of these things is not like the other one!

Then, I went to the doctor for a physical.  If you follow me on Facebook, you saw my husband call me out for not having been to the doctor for 5 years.  I haven’t been sick, but I know it’s good to get my EKG and blood work done.  I’m just paranoid that I will get sick from the doctor’s office cooties.

I rewarded myself with a Cocoa Banana Smoothie from Juice Bar!

I mailed Halloween cards to my Grandmothers.  Sadly I will be spending Halloween night in bed for the NYC Marathon, but I still get SOOO excited!

It was World Champagne Day!!! #mobubbleslesstroubles

And, the new iPhone emojis finally arrived!!!  It’s so sad that I’m this excited for a taco and champagne emoji!

Do you go to the doctor yearly even if you’re not sick?

Have you ever participated with Girls on the Run?

What are your weekend plans?

I never go to the doctor – even when I’m sick ( thankfully I am not often)! My doctor calls every year to ASK to schedule a physical and I say ‘I’m all set.’ The only time I go is if I need stitches and that happened last winter (um , cut my finger waiting for my friends to arrive for a run), wrapped my finger, RAN, and then went to clinic for stitches ha! And I got a horrible cold 3 days later. No joke! I am all about anti-cooties. Okay my usual long response but hopefully it gave you something else to read while tapering ????

I think I used a gallon of hand sanitizer while I was there!

    That taper hashtag – LOL.
I go for a physical once a year so yes! I see my doctor even when I’m not sick.
Weekend plans involve more renos in my new place! It’s never ending!
P.S. I love that we will be getting potato and avocado emojis next year!
    Happy weekend, Jen!

Renovations can be stressful, but it’s still so fun to fix-up your own place!

I have to go yearly to get some blood work drawn but not for a check up or anything. I stay pretty healthy so get to avoid going to the Doctor which I don’t mind one bit!
    GOTR is a great organization!
I admit I was excited about the new emojis so you’re not alone!

It’s so funny that we get excited over emojis! It’s the little things in life!

I go for a physical once a year – I actually have my yearly physical coming up in a few weeks. We’ve had a few issues with cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol in my family, so getting blood work done is very important for me. It also gives me peace of mind! I’ve actually never been to a sports doctor which I plan on doing next month after all my races are over.

That’s so smart of you! I promised my husband that I would do a better job.

You rock for being a coach!!!

Doctor? No thanks! I dread it always, I get paranoid too lol. Weekend plans? Run, rest, study. One of those is more exciting than the others haha.

I go to the doctor when I REALLY need to, same goes for my family. It’s the downside of having a nurse as a wife/mom. We’re the worst…
They’re starting up a GIrls on the Run group at my daughter’s school this spring, I’m excited to help volunteer with the girls and to start running with my daughter!

I love that you’ll get to do GOTR with your daughter!!!

That is so great you are involved with girls on the run! I am a coach at my school and the girls always have a blast throughout the season.

Annual physical yearly – yes have to keep my thyroid checked. Did my first GOTR race in 2014 and it was absolutely amazing. Weekend plans – completed my first Ragnar.

      Congrats on Ragnar!!!!!!

I trained as a GOTR coach when I got out of college but pretty soon my full time job barred me from actually coaching. The schedules have never matched up, but I really want to be a coach or at least a running buddy someday!

That’s so cool that you coached for GOTR!!!!

I’m the worst about going to the doctor, eeek! I haven’t been in awhile either, but I feel the same as you. I’m also just nervy to go! And I’m sad I’ll be missing Halloween this year, but relaxing on the couch while watching Hocus Pocus and eating a loaf of bread sounds pretty great to me right now :) And yasssss all the emojis! I was so excited!!

Embarrassing confession: I have never seen Hocus Pocus. Everyone’s been posting about it. I MUST watch it!
