NY, I heart you!

I totally forgot to share this awesomeness in my previous post….I had my first crack pie from Milk Bar and oh my gosh!  Y’all I inhaled it on the sidewalk just outside the bakery door!  It’s like chess pie but WAY better.

For our last night in NYC, my request was no more Italian.  We ate pizza or pasta for almost every meal of our trip!  So, we settled on Tao.

Then we made the short walk to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate!!!

Travel Tuesday:

Flying with a cranky knee isn’t ideal.

Oprah and some pineapple made the plane ride a little sweeter.

My first stop back in Nashville….The Juice Bar!

And then we picked up these two puppies!  They were wiped out from doggie daycare!

I HATE unpacking, but do it immediately.  Hers and Hers.  2 suitcases because….shopping.

When we got home, Jason surprised me with a NYC Marathon charm from Tiffany!!!!

    Back in the day when I did bodybuilding competitions I knew I should take weeks off afterward to heal. But I didn’t :-) I loved bodybuilding :-)
    I’m heading to the city in a few months I need to get to serendipity :-)

      That’s my problem. I love running, so time off is SO hard!

    Unpack right away! Just like a band-aide, get it done quickly.

    My first half medal, it will always have a special place in my heart.

    The next two days after a big race a committed to walking, I try to stay active.

    I always unpack right away. I don’t like leaving it for later. I also always make sure the house is clean when I leave because I don’t want to come back to a messy house.

    I take time off. I don’t see any reason for me to jump back into it immediately. I take at least a few days before I start running again. It is well deserved!

    I wait at least a week to unpack! It drives my fiance nuts! He definitely unpacks right away.

    I always take time off from running after a big race. After weeks of having almost every days workout planned, I like to change it up. Take spin classes, strength train, take barre classes, then get back to running.

    I don’t have a favorite momento but I love to hang the medals on my “Run Cleveland” wall hanger!

    You are so good to unpack right away, but I just can’t do it! I love that you brought an extra suitcase for shopping- that’ll hopefully be me one day!
    I bought this one shirt in Amsterdam as my memento of the marathon, but I should have picked more wisely. I never wear it because it’s just ugly!

    Your hubby is awesome – love the charm! I have to unpack ASAP. I also like to start packing as soon as I know I’m going somewhere or I’m moving. Knee pain is NO FUN – hope it gets better soon! I definitely enjoy some downtime after a big race. It’s a good time to rest, foam roll, stretch, and try some new exercises.

      Oh my gosh, I always end up packing the night before and it’s SO stressful. I’m trying to embrace the rest, but it’s tough for me.

    Scooter has always slept non-stop for days after a trip to doggie playland while we’re out of town; isn’t that funny? I guess naptime is nonexistent while they are there – ha! I definitely have to unpack right away; it used to drive Jonathan crazy, but now he just pitches in to get it done. Glad you made it home safely and I hope your recovery goes well!

    Unpacking ASAP is a must in my life…otherwise my boys would do it for me, (aka, cloths and “things” would be everywhere). Is there such a thing as “downtime” after a race 😉 Feel better fast!

    It’s been 10 days since my marathon and I still haven’t run yet. I thought about it this morning, but my bed felt more appealing. It’s strange not having to do it out of the necessity of training, so I’m not going to rush it. It’s been a nice change of pace, literally, to focus on strength training.

    I haaaaaaaaaate unpacking! I usually put it off until the last minute, which is horrible. I love the Tiffany’s charm, so sweet! I definitely take some downtime after a race, at least a week or so off but will do other cross training activities.

    I unpack straight away. I have a plaque of me running my very first marathon which is pretty cool because I was only 19! I wore a cotton tee shirt and blue soccer shorts.

    LOL I still haven’t unpacked from Hawaii in September…that’s really embarrassing to say out loud. Okay- new rule, I’m doing it Jen style from now on and as soon as I get home from a trip I’m unpacking.

    Wow, that frozen chocolate looks amazing.
    I always unpack. Everything. As soon as I get home. Then I do laundry. Immediately because I am a bit nervous about sleeping in hotel beds and what I could have brought home, even if they are really nice hotels.

    Ugh, I wish I would unpack immediately…My last trip was 2 weeks ago – it took me a week to bring myself to unpack. I don’t have any race keepsakes really – just the medals..I do keep my Ironman race bib up in the office at our house ;). After a big race I almost always take a week or so to recover and relax – enjoy some time with my hubs and indulge in some of the “not so good for you” foods and drinks.

    I am so bad at unpacking. I usually dump out all the dirty clothes into the laundry and then just leave the other stuff in the suitcase until I really need it. I still have items in a bag from when I traveled for a race back in September 😛

    Hehehe! I hate unpacking. I’m so bad. My poor boyfriend…

    I took some major downtime after WDW in January. After training for 13 months, and then one day it all being over (the day after the marathon), I had some major marathon blues. I didn’t run for close to 2 months after. It seems excessive, but I think it was good for me. 13 months of training was just too much; I really needed to find my love (for running) again.

      I can completely relate to the post-race blues! Having another race (even if it’s just for fun) really helps me.

    Oh my word I feel you on the unpacking! My husband is australian and so we travel there quite a bit! With 4 kids and two adults that’s a lot of stuff! But no matter what time we arrive home I unpack and wash EVERYTHING! He thinks im a nut but I can’t leave it sitting around even just overnight!

    I like to unpack pretty quick after getting home. If I don’t it just feels so messing with bags everywhere. How was the Frozen Hot Chocolate? I love the movie Serendipity where I heard about it. Perfect for this time of year.

    I hate unpacking, but who likes it!
    It’s super indulgent but I have clothes laundered before we leave – so at least when I get home I can put them back in my closet fresh!

    Congrats on getting through the race with your injury. It’s disappointing when races you work hard for don’t work out…..I missed Gold Coast and Melbourne this year with a bad run of illness……but I am guessing you will be back at it and attacking a new one soon. Gill :)
