5.  What is the hardest thing to write about?  I have family members that I haven’t seen or spoken to in years, because of addiction problems.  It’s tough.

6.  If you had to completely change the direction and content of your blog, what would you write about?  I typically leave my opinions about controversial topics out of my blog.  I think it would be a lot of fun to just share it all!

7.  What is your biggest challenge with blogging?  Posting daily!  Some days I just don’t want to take pictures and write a post.  Also, I’m afraid you guys are going to get tired of me!

8.  Who is your style icon?  I LOVE Kelly Ripa’s style!

9.  What is the most embarrassing phase that you’ve ever gone through?  So many choices, but let’s go with my 20’s.  I was blonde and making plenty of terrible life decisions!!  (These were my bosses….they weren’t part of the terrible life choices, lol!)

10.  What is your favorite drink?  Coffee in the AM.  Champs in the PM.

Thanks for the link and I appreciate your honest answers! I can completely see where you’re coming from on not wanting to post everyday (ha, so I don’t) and not wanting to take pictures of everything! The more I get into blogging, I remind myself to take long breaks from my phone and can only allow myself to take it on a couple runs a week. :) I can definitely see that in your style icon and you’re doing it well!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I completely agree…taking breaks from the phone is SO important!

  • cheryl

I would love to have the definition in Kelly Ripa’s arms!! You look so different with blond hair!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      Her arms ROCK!

  • http://www.sarahruns26.com Sarah @ SarahRuns26

I started running in second grade, so like age 7? It’s been a long time! I’m the worst with taking photos for the blog, so that’s my biggest struggle with blogging!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I LOVE that you found running at such a young age!

  • http://gretchruns.com Gretchen Braun

That picture of you in the church directory is gorgeous! I’ve only seen you with shorter hair so you look completely different but I like it! I bet this hair is easier to take care of though :)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

My hair was always long until the last few years. Every once in a while I miss it, but then I remember how long it used to take to dry it!

  • Janice

Love your blog! You are always so helpful! I’m heading to NYC this weekend too! Good luck!!!

I had so much fun answering Margaret’s questions too! Style icon: Reese Witherspoon. I love her mix of classic and preppy!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

BIG YES to Reese Witherspoon!!! She’s actually in Nashville right now opening her new store.

  • Angie @ Pace with Grace Blog

Love Kelly Ripa’s style! I catch a bit of her show some morning and I’m always like, ‘I want that!’ or ‘I would totally wear that!’ I was also nominated by Margaret and it was really fun to answer her questions!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      It’s such a fun Q&A!
I can only imagine how awesome Kelly’s closet is!

  • http://www.momontherunsanity.com Paria@momontherunsanity.com

Obsessed with Kelly Ripa… I go back and forth between Kelly Ripa’s more sleek style and SJP’s daring throw random girly pieces together….they are my duel fashion personalities… I started running at 38 in 2012…. I love to bake, too, but I eat it all in one sitting so I usually refrain:)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I was torn between Kelly and SJP for my answer….too funny!

  • Whitney

Sooooo would you say that blondes have more fun?! 😉 Style Icon: Diane Kruger, I am completely obsessed (and also love that she dates Pacey from Dawson’s Creek!)

Started running in late 2011, my first half was the Country Music in 2012!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I think I had too much fun as a blonde, lol!
      BIG YES to Diane Kruger!

  • elawruns

Love Kelly Ripa!! I also like Jean @extrapetite. She’s a great resource for petite girls. So many cute outfits!!
I guess I started running in Jr High at age 12? I added running back to my workouts when I was 39 and ran my first 5k.
Something people always comment on is my good memory. I remember lots of fun details and stories about trivial things. Does that count? :)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

It’s awesome that you found running at such a young age!
A good memory is an awesome gift!!!!

  • Beth

I started running a little less than three years ago. During my senior year of college, I randomly signed up for a half marathon. I was never a runner, and far from what you would call an athlete. But then I finished that first half in 1:59, and became hooked! Since then, I have completed a total of five half and two full marathons, and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

That is such a fast first half!!!!

  • Hannah

First: You better believe I snapchatted your answer for favorite drink and sent to my friends saying, “this is 1 reason I love Jen Chooses Joy!” #girlsgotclass
Second: I’m not sure that people could get tired of you!
Style Icon? Oh dear goodness. Who is someone with no style…? 😉
I started really really really running (meaning when I finally felt it was ok to “identify” as a runner) in March of this year.
Something I’m good at? Caring for animals!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      You are SO awesome….thank you!!!
It took me years to actually call myself a runner. Isn’t that funny that we do that?!
Caring for animals is an amazing gift!

  • Regina Mcwhirter

I don’t have a style icon, I think my sister’s always have their acts together where I am sporting the same clothes for 10+ years.
Started running in junior high, the came into knowledge about marathons in 2009, now I average 2-3 a year, usually staying close to home (unless I have the funds for BOSTON),
Something I’m good at is seeing the positive side to situations and life in general, my husband can definitely agree with that.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

Finding the positive in a HUGE gift!!!

  • http://www.suzyhastheruns.com Suzy Slane

You’re so refreshing. I will never get tired of you! I am 37 years old and I went for my first run on my own when I was 13. I ran my first marathon when I was 19!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

That’s awesome that you started running when you were so young!

  • AmandaM

This was such a fun read! I have the same curly color hair as you and I also went blond for a while – NOT a good look on me. And hilarious because I love Kelly Ripa (I dvr Kelly and Michael and have always watched since Regis and Kathie Lee). Kelly looks so good blond that she kind of inspired me to try it. Ha. I started running just for running (rather than to keep in shape for another sport) when I was 19 years old. I’m 37 now. But there were years in my mid- late 20’s when I strictly did gym workouts and didn’t run or race too much.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I always love when I can catch Kelly and Michael in the morning!

  • Tracy@myfitfocusedlife

So much fun to read this! You’re always a burst of energy! It’s great getting to know more about you through these types of posts. Thanks for sharing!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      Thanks so much for reading!!!

  • http://www.colourfulpalate.com/ Charissa

My style icon is quite classic – a mix of Audrey Hepburn and TSwift! This was such a fun post!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      That’s an awesome combo!!

  • http://laurainlou.wordpress.com Laura Olinger
