Life Lately…

When I woke up my Achilles was still sore, but not popping.  So…I decided to join the Brentwood Breakfast Club for some slow miles and it went really well!!!

This is what happens to routes sheets when it’s super duper hot and humid!

Speaking of Achilles, my friend Lindsey sent me this great article that Lauren Fleshman wrote…click HERE to read the whole thing!

I had my favorite strawberries, peaches, and mache rosettes salad for lunch.

And, then I made the most delicious Baked Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal.  I promise to have the recipe for you next week, because I am obsessed and you need to bake it.

Happy FRIYAY, friends!

I was first in the gym!

I ran a super easy paced 7 miles and went to the Juice Bar….caption: Gym and Juice….I crack myself up!

I had a sports massage scheduled for Sunday, but Robin Frazier at Franklin Massage Center was SO KIND and worked me into her Friday schedule!!!!!

Apple released their new Emojis!  Tacos, burritos, and champagne, oh my!

For those of us running NYC Marathon, runningandthecity has written an AH-mazing blog post full of tips for your trip and race.  Read it HERE!

And last, but definitely not least, I hope you took some time to reflect and remember those who were lost on 9.11.01

What are you most excited for this weekend?  I’m going to see my Gran for her birthday!  And, my husband is super pumped for our annual Greek Festival!

Has the cooler weather arrived yet where you live?  It’s supposed to cool down here THIS WEEKEND!!!

What Emoji do you wish they would make?  They’re still missing a Margarita emoji!

Glad your achilles seems to be healing–The weather has turned cooler here, but not as cool as I would like–I don’t know how you survive the heat and humidity all summer!

    • JenChoosesJoy

This summer heat kicked my butt!

  • Heather Davis

Happy Birthday Gran!!!! Mine is 95 and still going strong, I hope I get her genes. I have a long and slow run schedule for tomorrow!!! I love your healthy lunch. I don’t really want it to get cool yet!!!! Have a great day and enjoy the Greek Festival.

    • JenChoosesJoy

Wow…95 is incredible!!!! Have a great run! :)

  • AmandaM

I wish they would make a runner girl emoji though I am happy there is one at all! I’m most excited for my friend’s baby shower this afternoon. I met her through my running group so all my (girl) runner friends will be there which of course means lots of talking and laughing:) Happy weekend!

    • JenChoosesJoy

      That sounds like a blast!!!

I’m headed to Wag Fest that my sister helped to organize through the humane society she works at. Great cause and you get to bring your pup! It was 46 degrees on my run this morning! I would like a female runner and a little white dog emoji (for obvious reasons 😉 ).

    • JenChoosesJoy

I can’t believe you had temps in the 40’s!!!! Wag Fest sounds like so much fun for an incredible cause…love it!!

  • corrie

Still drooling over that oatmeal picture 😉 And I almost spit up coffee reading “gym and juice”!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

      You get me.

  • Gretchen Braun

Today we FINALLY got cooler weather! Yesterday was in the 80s, and today it’s been in the 50s. Thank goodness tomorrow will also be chilly because I have my long run! I would love if they made sports teams emojis…I really want one for Penn State and the Steelers :)

    • JenChoosesJoy

      Have an awesome long run!!!!!

  • Melissa

It was 42* for my run this morning..oh and rainy. BURR! :(
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    • JenChoosesJoy

Wow…42 degrees!!! Sorry it was rainy, though.

  • Laura Olinger

It was nice and cool this Saturday morning, maybe even a bit chilly? It felt great for running. Hope your run went well, too!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I love this time of year!!!

  • Richelle Winston

Most excited for finishing my long run….. And hopefully being able to walk after. It’s getting pretty cool in New Mexico, I love fall weather. Do you train for your marathons during winter? I’m apprehensive to start training possibly for one in January, I don’t know what to expect with training and weather. The shark emoji of course lol

    • JenChoosesJoy

I do train through the winter. Good cold gear makes all the difference! Have a great run! ????

  • Alaina @ The Simple Peach

That oatmeal looks like I need to make it. Yum! The Mr. and I are getting ready for a free 5k by Rock n Roll race series are its 54 degrees right now! Yes!

    • JenChoosesJoy

Oh my gosh…that’s perfect weather! Have fun!!!!

  • Amanda B @ Cupcakes and Miles

    Whoa! That oatmeal looks insane!!

Is it weird that I want a better sneaker emoji? I use the white sneaker emoji for running-related things, but it’s just not fun! 😉

  • Meghan Matejka

I’m glad to hear your achilles is feeling better. I can’t wait to read your recap of the Flying Monkey. Partly because I totally want to do it with you next year. That course looks killer! The cooler weather is finally here in Chicago. Today and Saturday were in the 50s! I love it!

  • Victoria Calderon

Oh my goodness I’m going to make that oatmeal as soon as you post it…it looks that good.

  • Reese Derrenberger

We have a Greek Festival here too, but it’s not until next month. I can taste the food now…
It was a little cooler here over the weekend but it didn’t last.
