Time Trial…EEK!

For various reasons, my girlfriends were unable to make our Monday run.  It was just me and the guys for 6 miles…

Followed by 4 more solo miles. #NeverMissAMonday

Jason cancelled a work trip at the last minute, so I met him for a lunch date!  A salad with a side of sweet potato fries is the perfect combo!

My house smells amazing right now from these lilies.  Aren’t they pretty?!

In honor of my first year of blogging, we had the yummiest mini vegan strawberry cheesecakes.  They were SO good!  I could have eaten 5 of them.

Track Tuesday:

It was time for the dreaded time trial again.  We do two trials during the Fleet Feet summer speed session.  5 weeks ago, I ran a 6:29 (3 days after a 50k).  I know it’s silly, but I still get so nervous before time trials…mostly because I know it’s going to hurt!

Today, I ran a 6:19…a new PR for me!!!  My previous best was a 6:20.

Saucony came out to the track and brought all sorts of goodies!

My girlfriend Shyla (in the boot pictured above) not only came out to cheer us on, but also brought me Pumpkin Spice Cookies!!  Y’all, I know it’s early, but Fall and all things pumpkin are coming!!!

A bunch of our group went to breakfast afterwards to celebrate surviving another time trial.  I wore my new Distance Makes the Heart Grow Stronger tank…a great tank for a great cause!!  Run 4 Others is selling these to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!

I had a little vegan chocolate cake (at breakfast) to celebrate my 1 year blogiversary!  Yes, I mostly just ate the frosting off of the top!

I came home to another post-it from Jason. :)

After breakfast cake, I had an acai bowl for lunch…

and a smoothie from Juice Bar for my afternoon snack!

    If the cake is just ok I will just eat the frosting off the top. Always depends on the cake but the frosting is the best part! I am all about fall so bring it on! I’d take cooler weather before pumpkin spice things, but really anything fall is good. I have been going through pears and peaches like mad over here! So good right now!!

    Depends on the cake!
    Big salads are in heavy rotation around our house right now after an indulgent weekend. And it’s too soon for pumpkin stuff! Our hot weather is JUST getting started, so I’m reluctant to admit that it’s ending anytime soon. (and I’m super excited for local blueberries, which are just ready now).

    The frosting is the best part!!!!! My go to healthy meal would be a green smoothie or salad to get back on track. And YES I am so so so excited for fall and everything pumpkin! I am counting down the days to the PSL.

    I like sweets but would probably eat more cake than frosting but that’s just me!
    I like to focus on getting in lots of clean foods so usually a salad with greens, some veggies, chicken and home made dressing.
    I am excited for pumpkin mania! But I can’t believe the summer is coming to an end :-(

    I just love a big, crunchy salad during the summer. I’m currently obsessed with the Greek salad at Zoe’s. (not sure if you have that in Nashville)
    I need cooler weather to enjoy pumpkin treats. I’ll be ready for chocolate chip pumpkin cookies in October.

    I cannot wait for fresh bell peppers. I’m so tired of finding sad looking ones at the grocery store. And summer squash will finally be affordable again! Woohoo! Pumpkin-spice baked goods cannot come soon enough! Love me some fall, flannel, and pumpkin #Basic.

    I have a running question for you if you do not mind. I noticed you often run one day a week on a treadmill. Do you set it on an incline? If so, always the same incline?

      It depends on the purpose of my run. I typically use the treadmill for my recovery run, and I set the incline on 1%. If I’m simulating a long run or hill work, I adjust the incline throughout the run.

    Um, yes to the frosting (guilty as charged!) and I will definitely be excited for pumpkin spice mania as soon as it cools off a little bit; it feels too hot for me to be able to get into it right now, sadly. I love August apples!! Congrats on your time trial, Jen; that is SPECTACULAR!!

    Congrats on the PR in your time trial! I only eat the frosting- especially if it has funfetti, sprinkles, etc! I am SO excited for pumpkin-spice mania!

    Congrats on the PR- awesome time! I’m supposed to run a time trial this weekend before starting up training for my fall half and I’m nervous, too!
    I will often toss out most of the frosting (gasp!) especially when it has that thick buttery texture. But I will eat your cake and everyone else’s, so it all works out.
    Go-to healthy is a giant salad!
    Pumpkin… still too soon. I’m sad about summer veggie/ fruit season winding down. Fresh corn is the best.
