Too Soon?

Thursday’s are for running with the Brentwood Breakfast Club! Do yo like our cheesy ‘take a knee’ pose?

We took a little field trip to downtown Franklin to run and have breakfast at Frothy Monkey!

The Rock n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon never gets discounted, so I was shocked when they sent the ambassadors a discount code to share!!  I’ll be there…who’s in?!!!

I worked really hard all day on blog and YouTube (videos take me FOREVER!) stuff.  So…..I treated myself to ginormous slice of chocolate cake!!!

Starbucks surprised me with a customized Pumpkin Spice Latte Early Access Pass.  I don’t love PSL (I know…crazy!), but this got me super excited for Fall!!

Friday: Lucy gets me….Champagne Friday!

I’ve been so wiped out this week, so brace yourselves…I slept-in until 5:30 and didn’t run first thing!

Instead, Jason and I went to The Perch for a crepe date.

And then, I went to the gym for a little run.

I swear I went to the mall to shop at Pottery Barn, but I couldn’t resist buying all things Pumpkin/Fall at Williams Sonoma….don’t judge.  Too soon?

Woohoo for the long Labor Day weekend!!!!

Our local weather posted our winter forecast.  Nashville won’t know what to do if this really happens.

I wrote a post for The Juice Bar: My Top 10 Benefits from Eating a Plant-Basted Diet.  Check it out!

Don’t forget to order your CHOOSE JOY t-shirts and tanks.  I’m donating 100% of the proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!  This is the Bella flowy tank, but there are lots of options!

Anyone else have pumpkin/fall fever?

Pumpkin Spice Latte…yay or nay?

Do you have a 3-day weekend?  What are your plans?

-I am looking forward to fall. I love pumpkin bread and pumpkin cookies. :)
    -Pumpkin spice latte = yay!
-Weekend plans are working both saturday and sunday at UC. Then Monday some major family time before the little girl starts kindergarten on tuesday! :(
*random questions: Do you have ties to St. Jude, or is it a passion you like to support. I donate to them every Christmas, in our family we donate to organizations instead of buying gifts. So I’m glad to do some additional donating, and get a fabulous shirt :) Thanks for what you are doing!

I don’t have any ties to St. Jude….I just really believe in what they’re doing.
I LOVE your family Christmas tradition!!!!

I read your post on the Plant Based diet. This is something I have ben trying very hard to do, but I am really lost. I am not a big lover of meats, but still feel somewhat drained when trying to cut out animal protein. Would you mind giving some suggestions on how to start and what you do to get your protein in?

    • JenChoosesJoy

Here are some of my favorite sources: All beans and peas are high in protein, kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, soy milk, nut butters, almonds. When I first became a vegetarian, I ate way too much almond butter. It kept me feeling full while I figured out how to eat. I slowly dialed it back, but I can totally relate to how you’re feeling. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help!!!

I have to laugh at the snowfall amounts for Nashville. I live in NH. We were BURIED last winter with snow–my kids only had one snow day (and it was a virtual one). I guess it is what you are used to!!! I am ready for Fall. I am not a big “Pumpkin flavor” person, unless it is pumpkin bread, or pie. I love that you go on breakfast dates with your hubby…

    • JenChoosesJoy

Our entire city shuts down!! In our defense, we don’t have salt and plow trucks, and none of us know how to drive in it!!

  • Chris Therrien

It’s never too early for pumpkin anything!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I like your way of thinking!

  • Richelle Winston

    • JenChoosesJoy

They’re too sweet for me, too!

  • Suzy Slane

I am so not ready for Fall, but I AM ready for the kids to go back to school!!!! LOL

    • JenChoosesJoy

All of my mom friends say the same thing!!

So glad you put your shirt up again in a different style…I had thought that it only came in the T-shirt and I’m generally not a fan of sleeves….ordered a tank in pink!!! #choosejoy

    • JenChoosesJoy

That makes me SO happy…THANK YOU!!!!!????????????

  • Meghan Matejka

I loved readying your reasons for a plant based diet. I’m going more and more that direction. Have you listened to Rich Roll’s podcast? He interviews lots of amazing plant based athletes!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I’ve never listened to his podcast. I’ll check out out…thanks for the recommendation!!!

  • Alaina @ The Simple Peach

I have pumpkin/fall flavors fever already. I’ve been dreaming up a butternut squash lasagna for over a week now. The Mr. and I are in Salt Lake City this weekend and it is already fall here and currently 45 degrees!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I am SUPER jealous of the cooler temps!!!

  • Stefanie

I’m all over the pumpkin spice fever with you, Jen! Just changed out my scentsy to a Fall flavor!

  • Amanda B @ Cupcakes and Miles

I just had my first PSL of the season yesterday! It was so yummy!

I can’t believe 5:30 is sleeping in for you. I don’t know how you do it…

    • JenChoosesJoy

I’m just a weirdo early bird, lol!

  • Heather Davis

I am looking forward to fall, and I have had the pumpkin marshmallow wall flowers going for three weeks. I am SO fortunate that I do not have to work, so everyday is a holiday. I worked so hard for so long, and missed so many holidays etc being a police officer that I am enjoying my life. Have a great race and Labor Day!!!!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

That’s an awesome attitude!!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Sarah @ SarahRuns26

I for sure have fall fever. It is currently 102 outside in Kansas right now, so fall can’t come soon enough! I’m not a big pumpkin spice person. I love how it smells, but nothing I feel the need to drink. Yay for the three day weekend! I can’t express how much I’ve needed it! No big plans, but my best friend is coming to visit today so that’s pretty exciting!

Tomorrow is the Franklin (TN) Classic ! ????????
