Track and the Garmin Winner!

Monday:  Coffee do your thing!

I met friends (at Starbucks of course) for 6 miles.

And the ran 3 more solo miles.  It was a hot and tough run!

I made a new roasted parmesan green beans recipe…so good!

Track prep….way too many splits to keep straight!

The workout was all about changing gears…easy pace for long distances and faster paces for short distances.

4.5 mile warm-up and drills
1200m (200 recovery)  Goal: 5:16 Actual: 5:16
600m (200 recovery) Goal: 2:26 Actual: 2:25
200m (400 recovery) Goal: 0:46 Actual: 0:46
1200m (200 recovery) Goal: 5:16 Actual: 5:15
600m (200 recovery) Goal: 2:26 Actual: 2:26
200m (400 recovery) Goal: 0:46 Actual: 0:43
1 mile cool down

This crew makes it fun!!!

I rewarded myself with a Cocoa Banana smoothie from Juice Bar!

I came home to another Post-It from Jason complete with a Whitney Joyner Kersey quote….lol!

Because Tuesday’s are for tacos!

I got a much needed haircut and highlights.

Our friends Alex and Lauren just moved and we had a date at 5th and Taylor to celebrate!

Grilled romaine salad with apple, grilled squash and zucchini, and a quinoa stuffed pepper.

For dessert we shared the peach pie with sweet corn ice cream and macarons….SO GOOD!

Nashville folks: 5th and Taylor is wonderful and you need to visit!!

****BIG CONGRATS to Jenny S. from Boca Raton, FL on winning the Garmin VivoActive!!  And thank you to everyone that entered the contest!!!

Do you love to try new restaurants or do you like to dine at the same spots? We definitely get in a restaurant rut and have been trying to branch out more.

What’s your speed workout this week?

What do you like to eat and/or drink immediately after a tough workout?

I love trying new restaurants but I do have some favorites that I like to frequent : ) Go with what you know (especially before a long run!) Haha. I love drinking lemon water right after a work out, or a smoothie… either one is numero uno on my list!

I try to drink warm lemon when I wake up and before bed. It’s supposed to be so good for you!

When is that roasted parmesan green beans recipe coming? I think this might help me to get the kids to eat their beans more :)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I hope to type it up next week. We love these green beans!!

I love your run y’all shirt!!!! I feel like I am always saying I love your clothes!!!!! Just send them to me when you are done :)!!!!
I think I need a juice bar by me too :).
I love how your hubbie leaves little encouraging notes :)…what a guy :)
We get in a rut for sure. We don’t eat out a ton, but when we do we always hit up our tried and true favorites.
I did 10 x 100 repeats for speed this week in the middle of a 10 mile run….it was hard :) and hot!

Including speed in longer runs is always a challenge for me…great job!!!!

My husband and I like to try out new restaurants but do get stuck in our usual favorites sometimes.
40 minute progression run for me this morning and my legs felt great. Love when that happens :-)
I keep it simple after a tough workout. I never have an appetite so I stick to Nuun or Fairlife chocolate milk.

      Congrats on a great run!!!

I love your hair! Oh what I would give for straight blonde hair. Sigh… Your track work looks like no joke. Nicely done! I’m doing mile repeats on Friday night and then tacking on some average miles at the end of it just to make it a long run too. I ran 10 miles this morning and then I’m going to do a treadmill run while Callum naps: alt 2 min hard running with 2 min recovery running to make 5 miles.

It’s usually only straight when my stylist fixes it!!
You are doing some awesome running!

      It was SO good!!!

Nice job on those splits! My speed work this week was mile repeats, which is definitely my favorite interval workout.

      I love mile repeats!!!

I’m super excited to go back to 5th and Taylor!

-I drink a ton of water (w NUUN tabs) when I am done! Plus a banana or apple sauce.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I feel like I can’t drink enough right now in this heat!

YAY! Love fun new restaurants and hang out spots; this place looks amazing! Well, instead of Track Tuesday, Coach had me doing hill repeats at tempo pace and I got “permission” (ha!) to do them on the treadmill because we had thunderstorms yesterday morning. It was still tough! You know I have to have something cold to drink right after…helps so much!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

That is such a tough workout…well done!!!!!

I am always wanting to eat at the same restaurants. I just get comfortable and don’t feel the need to always branch out.

After a tough workout (or any outdoor workout in this heat) I immediately want lots and lots of water and a banana.
