Friday: TGIFC!!!!

I hit the gym for some easy paced miles and picked up a Cocoa Banana at the Juice Bar!

I kicked off a new Coach’s Oats GIVEAWAY on my Instagram!  Make sure to find this picture to enter….the contest ends on Tuesday!

I prepped everthing for my Saturday long run…(Endurolytes, Amphipod, Garmin 620, Armpocket, Huma Gel, Honeystinger Gel, Picky Bar, Cocogo—->SPECIAL 20% DISCOUNT with code: JENCHOOSESJOY)

And, snuggled up with Caorline who lives for belly rubs.

Saturday: National Talk Like A Pirate Day…ARRRR!

My Fleet Feet Chicago Training Group had their last 20 miler on the schedule!  They rocked a really hot summer training season!!!!!!!

I needed 22 miles, so I ran 2 miles early.

I ended up running a bonus mile after our run for a total of 23 miles!!!!  Oh….and it was hot!

I celebrated with wine!

Sunday FUNday!

I was first in the gym…

And had a decent shakeout run.  Nothing was sore, but my legs were heavy.

I met Jason for breakfast…

And a hike around Radnor Lake!

I bought myself some pretty flowers!

Peak and Pit of your weekend?  Peak: I felt really strong for my long run!  Pit: The heat!!

Do you lay everything out the night before your long run or do it in the morning?  My brain doesn’t work in the morning….I have to lay it out the night before!

Peak – Reach the Beach relay with a great group of people! So fun. Pit – laundry ????

    • cheryl

Hey, Amanda, I did RTB too! My team stopped at my house to shower during our off time on Saturday. Between that and the normal laundry of a household of 5–nuts. We were using beach towels by Sunday!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

      Congrats on RTB!!!!!

  • cheryl

Peak. RTB. Pit. My quads are shot! Other pit, read my response to Amanda, my laundry is UPSTAIRS…

    • JenChoosesJoy

I totally know the feeling when stairs are the enemy!!!!

  • Heather Davis

I also felt good on my run. Fourteen miles but it got hot quick. I try to lay everything out. I definitely need to enter for the Coachs Oats. I love oatmeal. Happy Monday!!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I’m so happy you had a great long run!!!!!

  • Sarah @ SarahRuns26

My long run this weekend was 15 miles, which felt short after weeks of 20 milers! I do lay my running gear out the day before if I’m starting super early. My mind doesn’t function properly that early either! Peak – I got to take two naps! Pit – its over!

    • JenChoosesJoy

Isn’t it funny when you catch yourself saying “only 15 miles”?!!!

  • Jamie Whittendale

20 miler this weekend. Number 2 of 3 for this training cycle! I can’t believe race day is only 5+ weeks away!!! And I definitely do not lay things out before my run… although I totally should. Some day I’ll learn… great weekend of miles lady!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

      Congrats on another 20 miler!!!!!

  • corrie

Those flowers are beautiful! And seeing you in the ChooseJoy t-shirt makes me even more excited about receiving mine!! Can’t wait! !

  • Angie @ Pace with Grace Blog

Great week of running! Peak: birthday celebrations Pit: recovering from birthday celebrations 😉
I lay everything out the night before for long or short runs. It just helps me to not have to think too much so early in the morning; I just grab my clothes and gear and go!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I definitely don’t recover as quickly from celebrations as I used to!

  • Melissa

Wow, what an awesome weekend! :) No long run for me this weekend, trying to give my groin strain a few more days of recovery.
Peak: Sunday morning spent with family before work. :)
Pit: Work was tough this weekend, more than a few sad cases :(
I lay everything out the night before I run even short distances. I just don’t like having to think too hard in the morning, LOL :)

    • JenChoosesJoy

I’m so sorry you had a rough work weekend!! Hopefully today will rock!

The collective quads in that 22 mile run picture!! Wow!! (I do lay everything out the night before a long run)

    • JenChoosesJoy

My girlfriends are so fit and strong!!!

  • Suzy Slane

If I have to run in the morning, I often sleep in my running clothes! Sports bra, shorts, tank, etc. Ha! Good job on that long run! WHEW!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I have a girlfriend that does that, too!!

  • Beata F

I run a Rock’N’Roll half in Montreal with my brother! We had a blast, the hills were a killer for me, Florida is pretty flat. the course was 13.30, so if it was correct I would have gotten a PR, I am a little bumed about it, but I run negative splits starting at 11:00 and ending with 9:51 with all the hills being at the end. This race pumped me up for finishing my marathon training strong!
I lay out everything the night before, I can’t think straight before I have my coffee!

    • JenChoosesJoy

It sounds like it was an awesome training run and those are great negative splits!!!

  • stephanie g

I ran long this weekend… well, Friday morning before work. It was my longest run since my stress fracture last fall, so I was really excited to get it done, and finished strong!
Peak- spending lots of time with the family
Pit – seeing my boys at Alabama lose on Saturday night, then watching the Saints sink further on Sunday. :(
Lay everything out the night before, every time. I run pretty (very) early before work, so it’s a must to save time!
    Have a great day!

    • JenChoosesJoy

Congrats on a great long run!!!!

  • Grace

22/20 miles – you and your running group are rockstars! Sounds like a great weekend!
Did you get free donuts at Krispy Kreme for talking like a pirate this week? I totally would have, but no Krispy Kremes where I live!!
Peak of the weekend: delicious food. Pit: SO many readings for class!

    • JenChoosesJoy

I’m sad to report that I did not have any donuts which is such a shame after such a long run.

  • Michelle Dragoo

Great job, Jen!!!! I always lay everything out the night before a long run/race. My brain is shot until around 9 am, LOL! Peak of my weekend was spending the day with family in the city for my oldest daughter’s birthday! Pit, no running happened at all!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

it sounds like you had a great reason to miss your run!!!

  • Running ‘N’ Reading

Congrats to you and your training group, Jen; y’all are ready to race!!

    • JenChoosesJoy

      Thank you!!!!

I ran long on Saturday…16 miles :). Peak…there were lots…my girls won both of their volleyball games and for the most part my workouts were good. Pit…my 800’s on the track were hard…WAY hard!
I lay some stuff out the night before…usually my clothes so that I don’t wake my husband up trying to find it….but I don’t leave at nearly the early times that you do :)

    • JenChoosesJoy

Oh no….I’m leaving right now to go run 800’s! Hopefully they won’t be too terrible, lol!

  • mary @ minutes per mile

cute shirt! radnor lake is the best — i wish they would let us actually run (not just walk) there 😉
