It was our first cold morning and it felt great!
IMG_3285.JPG

I got to join the Run 4 Others group for their long run and I had a blast!  Just this fall, the group has raised almost $12,000 for charity!!!
IMG_3284.JPG

My plan called for 16 miles total.  11 easy paced miles with the final 5 a little faster than GMP.  I was really proud of my splits: 8:00, 8:02, 7:59, 7:54, 7:35

After my run, Pro Compression socks felt SOOOO good!

A new burger spot opened up in Brentwood called BurgerFi.  We loved it!

I had the Veggie Burger with grilled mushrooms on a lettuce “bun”.

We had a busy day planned, so I hit the gym way too early for a recovery run.

Breakfast at Biscuit Love!

We got to see this big deer on a hike at Radnor Lake.

The cold weather had me craving tomato soup and grilled cheese.  My favorite in Nashville is at The Food Company!
IMG_3293.JPG

And while I was in Green Hills, I stocked up at the Container Store.  I could barely contain myself, lol!

I crave soup when It gets cold, sometime in January in Florida:) my favorite is tomato soup! I love organizing, when it gets cooler I organize my closet and put away all my summer stuff. Pit of the weekend was that i had to stop my long run at 3 miles because my hamstring hurt too much:(( (old injury didnt like my 21 miler) peak of the weekend was that I got to see my new puppy!! I cant wait to bring him home on wensday!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I figured taper time is a great time to organize my house!
I’m so sorry your hamstring is being cranky. Sounds like you were smart to stop when you did.
Getting a new puppy is SOOOO exciting!!!!!

  • Rachel Preusser

I love your 16 miler photo, and those splits, FREAKIN AWESOME! NYC is soo soon, but you are so ready! I’ll be following :) You have no idea how badly you make me want to visit Nashville, all of these incredible pictures of great places to eat and things to buy, love it :) Dont get too burned out girlfriend, you’ve got a big race soon ! :) have a great monday!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I’m starting to get nervous for NYC!!
I know I’m biased, but Nashville is a great city!

  • http://www.youngandrungry.com Margaret @youngandrungry

I’m so happy Brentwood got a BurgerFi! We had one in Knoxville, it’s really good. I tend to crave hardy stews and chili when the weather gets cold.

I had a 10-mile race yesterday and it chilly, but beautiful!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

It really was cold, but it made for beautiful running weather!!

  • Sarah Beth Koonce

We have a BurgerFi in Raleigh and I LOVE their veggie burger :) I can’t wait to whip up my favorite crockpot chili now that it is finally getting colder. Peak: A new 7 minute PR (1:47) at the Bull City Half Marathon yesterday! Pit: The current state of my legs right now.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      That’s a huge PR…..congratulations!!!!
      You earned some rest!

  • Robin Smith

We have a BurgerFi in Naples (where we spend the winter) I am going to have to check it out. Favorite cold weather food is soup and roasted veggies (cauliflower and spaghetti squash are my favorites! Peak – lovely hike up a small mtn near home to view the amazing colors in the Northeast! Pit – being so wiped out from a crazy busy 2 weeks of work I could barely get motivated.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I’m so ready for our leaves to turn. It just got cold in the south, so hopefully it will look like fall in the next few weeks!

  • Angie @ Pace with Grace Blog

I also crave soup as well as chili when it gets cold! That tomato soup and grilled cheese looks awesome!
We just got a Container Store by us and I’m planning to check it out. Any must haves?
I ran the Monster Run 5 miler and surprised myself with my pace. Love when that happens :-) Placed 7th of 61 in my AG
    Looks like a great weekend!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I could spend hours in the container store….you’re going to love it!
      Congrats on a great race!!!!

That veggie burger look amazing :) yum
-I love soups too on cooler fall days.
    -I love organizing!
-Peak: work flew by this weekend because we were super busy Pit: Sick baby girl today.
    :) Have a wonderful week!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I hope your sweet girl feels better soon!

  • Beth

I would love to buy a shirt, but I just the sizing says a “Small” is about a “4.” I’m petite (around 5 feet): will the shirt be too long on me?

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

It depends on the shirt. The flowy tanks and t-shirts are a little longer. The rest of them are shorter. I hope that helps!

  • Jamie Whittendale

I love soup when it’s cold. I don’t drink coffee or tea, so warm foods for lunch and dinner are essential! That or I have to blast the heat in my car with the heated seat on to drink my smoothie :)

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I did that this morning!!! I got a smoothie and cranked the heat in my car and my seats….too funny!!

I did the slay sarcoma 5K this weekend with my family / friends, which is very near and dear to my heart because it was organized by my friend who has stage 4 sarcoma…I’m going to check out run4others…. I love to be able to combine running and giving back.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

Congrats on running a great race for a great cause!!!

  • corrie

You weren’t kidding about that soup and grilled cheese this morning! That looks AMAZING!! Thank-you for the “new to me” restaurant suggestion! I cant wait to see the outcome of the pantry-taper project!!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

You have to go next time you’re in Green Hills!

  • https://bubblyrunner.wordpress.com bubblyrunner

Oh my heavens, that Biscuit Love places looks AWESOME. Obviously I looked up the menu and now am planning a trip to Nashville just so I can eat there. I crave chili when the weather gets cold, or lentil soup!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

It’s SO good!!!! I was just saying that it’s time to make a big pot of chili!

  • cheryl

I had tomato soup and grilled cheese after my long run (21) on Saturday am–at 8:45 am!! It tasted sooo good! We have had the temps in the 20’s at night now…

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      Breakfast of champions!!!!

  • http://www.suzyhastheruns.com Suzy Slane

Those are great splits on that fast finish run of yours. Nicely done! I was supposed to race a 10k this weekend but I missed it. I thought it was on Sunday, but I got an email Saturday afternoon thanking everyone for such a great race and for how wonderful the weather was. Doh. Oh well. So I ran long instead. Sigh…

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

We were just saying that it’s so hard to keep up with which races are on Saturdays or Sundays! Sorry you missed your race.

  • http://www.runningnreading.com Running ‘N’ Reading

Yes, The Container Store is definitely one of my favorite places, Jen – ha! I definitely lean toward hot foods (instead of cold – tough to get excited about yogurt!) when the temps cool down and it was fun to start roasting veggies again. The only pit this weekend was that it went by so quickly, but the weather was just great! Hope you’re getting plenty of rest; you’re going to be so ready for NYC!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

Wasn’t it gorgeous this weekend?!! I really enjoyed it!

  • Monica Dean

That grilled cheese and tomato soup looked amazing! As did the veggie burger. I crave soup and warm sandwiches when it gets cool out. Mostly tomato bisque or something creamy. Love to experiment with the panini maker too.
Peak of the weekend: date night with the hubby Friday night. Pit: annoying planters fasciitis.
Ran 17 yesterday. Getting up to some peak mileage before Dallas PCS marathon Dec 13th!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

The panini maker makes every sandwiches better!!!!!!!
I’m sorry you’re dealing with plantar fasciitis. I know it can be SO frustrating. I’m super impressed you were able to run 17!

  • stephanie g

All of your food pics look good enough to eat! Congrats on the great long run!

When it gets cold, I crave chicken and dumplings, although I hardly ever make it (because my mom’s is the best and when I do it, it’s just not the same!).
Love to be organized and when I get the urge, I’m unstoppable… but the husband and two kids are obviously plotting against me because they slowly undo all of my hard work.
Peak: gorgeous weather! Pit: older daughter had a stomach virus that grounded us for most of the weekend. Poor kiddo.
Raced a local 10k and PR’ed. It was chilly to start, started 30 min late, and was really windy! But I was happy with my time.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I figured some pantry organization would help me channel my energy during my NYC taper!
      Congrats on your PR!!!!!

  • http://runeatsnap.com Jill @ RunEatSnap

That grilled cheese looks amazing! I am going to have to go there next time I visit my sister (she lives in Nashville!). I ran my 8th half marathon this weekend. Peak: The beautiful fall day for the race. Pit: Stupid knee pain!

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I’m so sorry you’re having knee pain, but congrats on your 8th half….that’s awesome!!!!!

  • http://laurainlou.wordpress.com Laura Olinger

I love Biscuit Love! We went there on our weekend trip to Nashville next May. A group of my friends wants to come down for Wanderlust 108 but we’re having a hard time fitting in it our schedules :(

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

I would LOVE to do the Wanderlust 108, but I’ll be in NY. I’m bummed to miss it!

  • Heather Davis

Wow that grilled cheese looks delicious!!! What kind of cheese is it? As always I love your blog. I made some tomato soup last week that was sooooo good. You know I am a curious chic, now I am wondering what is in the container store bags, and I totally laughed at your joke.

    • http://www.jenchoosesjoy.com JenChoosesJoy

      Thank you!!!!
I don’t remember what kind of cheese it was, but it was perfectly stringy and gooey!
I always struggle during taper time, so I bought some containers to help re-organize my pantry!

  • http://www.pawsandpavement.com/ Sheena

Yum grilled cheese and tomato soup! It’s totally the season for that now. I didn’t race or run long this weekend. I had some serious lack of motivation time to change that!

  • Sue Tate

OMG, I love organizing. I love to purge my closet and organize it on a rainy day :)
