Fall Marathon season is upon us, and so many are tapering or about to taper. (As I type this, I’m in my peak training week for NYC!)

    Great tips! I like to catch up on reading. I stink at finishing books. Always on the run. ūüėČ I taper for 3 weeks so I’m due in another week! Last 20 miler next weekend then the countdown is on for Savanna!! I can’t wait to read about your races. You have the best recaps!

    I have a couple of weeks to go before the taper. I will enjoy it, and maybe wear “civilian” clothes after my run (I coach jh xc in the afternoon, so I typically go from one runnning outfit to the next…)

    As I commented on youtube, I totally binged on your channel this morning and I’m not ashamed. I have mixed feelings about tapering. I itch for long runs when the weather is nice, but tapering usually comes at the right time for me and I welcome it. I agree with you in the video- using the extra time to catch up with friends who have been neglected during training!

      I’m in my peak right now and tired!! Taper actually sounds pretty nice, but I’m sure I’ll feel differently when I don’t get to run as much as I want!

    I am getting close to my taper….about 2 more weeks …1 more 16 and 1 more 20 miler. I am ready!!!! Since I have upped my mileage (for me, you run more than I do) and upped the intensity, by the time the taper is here I am ready!!! I like to clean and organize my house during the taper :)

    I love the term “taper tantrum”….hydration is my biggest problem…..not just during taper time but all the time!!

      I have to make myself drink more water. I know I never drink as much as they recommend.

    I’m four weeks out from the half I’m training for (on Halloween!). I’ve got two more long runs and a 10k race to put in the books before I taper off (following Higdon’s Novice 2 plan). Somehow, I will be in Disney World with the family on my last weekend before and I’m still strategizing my plan for those days!
    Tapering- new to me; I was injured in last weeks of training for the same half last year and it would have been my first. :( Just a one-week taper in my plan. One day I’ll go for the whole enchilada and take on the marathon, though!
    Will check out the youtube video tonight- I’ve enjoyed the others!

      It sounds like you’ve got a great plan! At least Disney will be a great distraction while you’re tapering.

    I’ve got 5 days to go! I seem to be a bit on edge and now it makes more sense (I should warn my coworkers). I’m awaiting my next Runner’s World magazine to help get me through. I also enjoy looking back on my running log to “trust my training,” I do a 2 week taper, last week was not bad, this week seems different.
