YouTube Tuesday: What I Eat in a Day

This video is a little different!  As a vegetarian who loves to run, I get a bunch of questions about what my diet looks like for a typical day. I chose a normal day and filmed my meals and snacks. I hope you enjoy it!!!!

    Love the video! I have the habit of eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch and then like to change it up for dinner. I can’t live without breakfast, I’m one of those who wakes up starving and of course I have a sweet tooth throughout the day! Your dinner looked amazing :)

      I wake up hungry, too!! I’m aways amazed when people say they don’t eat breakfast.

    Thanks so much for sharing. I always wonder what other runners eat because I know I need to do a little better about my nutrition. I usually do well for breakfast and lunch but them scamble to make dinner. This often leads to a crazy dinner meal lol

      I mostly eat the same breakfast and lunch each day, so it’s easy. Dinner can definitely get tricky on busy days!

    This was such a fun video! I typically eat the same foods (either a green smoothie or oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch, etc.) most days. I cannot imagine skipping breakfast! And I have a total sweet tooth before bed too–I make vegan hot chocolate :)

    Thanks for sharing! I am a creature of habit and tend to stick to the same foods especially for breakfast which I never skip. I don’t eat anything before I go on my morning run so I always come back hungry! Dinner is where I get the most variety. I also get a sweet tooth before bed!

      They’re Organic Girl Mache Rosettes and I’m addicted to them! I actually buy them by the case, lol!

    Have you ever suffered from iron deficiency/anemia? I run about 15-20 miles a week and after being a vegetarian for a year and a half, my body was extremely run down and my running suffered. I found out I had iron deficiency anemia, which then led me back to a meat eating diet and faster running. I miss the vegetarian days though and wonder if I should just boost my supplements.

      Thankfully I’ve never had problems with my iron levels. I do take a monthly B-12 supplement. I think every persons body is different.

    I’m also a mostly-vegan vegetarian, so I loved this video! I like to see what other runners who eat this way eat, and get ideas from them.

    I’ll eat the same foods for a while, and then switch to something else and eat that for a while.

    I definitely eat breakfast – I wake up so hungry! Also, most days I can’t get out for a run until around 8:45, so I need to eat something that’ll keep me fueled up until then!

    I usually get a sweet tooth after lunch. I have a bad habit of grabbing a handful of chocolate chips after I eat, but I’m trying really hard to break it! I, too, often turn to dates for a sweet treat.

    Great video! I now think I eat way too much 😉 I, along with everyone, get hit with the afternoon snack attack. Popcorn is my kryptonite with nutritional yeast.

    I love berries – blue, black ,rasp and straw in my salad! Sometimes all at the same time! I also use 1/2 an apple or pear in my dinner salad. I love love love the fruit flavored balsamic vinegars – we have a local Olive Oil company and they have awesome flavors – apple, blueberry, blackberry – ginger, coconut, maple… the list goes on! I don’t like to use oil – a tbl spoon or two makes my salads taste different (even though they have the same ingredients!).

    I love the same foods everyday lol. I love to eat a potato and two eggs for breakfast (i need more veggie lol). I never skip breakfast I would be a mess without it. I do have a sweet tooth at bedtime, bad!

          Mâché rosettes are a really mild green. They pair really nicely with fruit!

    That is so funny you keep your salad ingredients separate :) You are WAY ahead of the game on getting your daily recs of fruits and veggies in a day, that’s for sure! And I am so NOT judging (you can see my post What Does a Dietitian Eat http://runeatsnap.com/what-does-a-dietitian-eat/ that I am FAR from perfect in my food choices) but make sure you are getting enough protein! It’s important to get a good dose of protein (20-30g) at each meal. VERY important for recovery and maintaining muscle mass as a runner!
